VÀI PHÚT VỚI Mc GILL GIÁM ĐỐC SAINT JOHN COLLEGE UNB

(Following will be the interview in English)

Trước buổi họp của chính quyền thành phố Saint John dhq có vài phút hỏi chuyện Giám đốc trường đại học Saint John College (University of New Brunswick -UNB) ông Peter Mc Gill.

At a previous meeting of the Saint John municipal government Quang Du  spoke for few minutes with the Diector of Saint John College (University of New Brunswick- UNB) Peter McGill:

- I think having international students in Saint John and UNB is very good for  Saint John because it helps the city understand  multicultrural community. I think it helps students in Saint John who live in this area. It s wonderful when they go to the class and mix with students from Saudi Arabia South Korea Viet Nam China and all other countries because they will learn how to understand and how to interact with people from other places. And I believe education takes place in classrooms and also takes place after classes are over. Friendships are built and I think that s  good.

         - It s a good chance for Vietnamese students to come here. But there are a few Vietnamese staying here. When I went to the Saint John Public Library I couldn t find any Vietnamese books there.

          - I think it s great opportunity for Vietnamese students to come to study here. People have come to Saint John from around the world for a long time. Question back to you: could you find Vietnamese books in the Public Library ?

- No sir !

- No ? Then I think we need the University to understand that. We need to get some books and to better understand Viet Nam so that students feel more comfortable being here. We now have 400 families from South Korea living in Saint John

- And 500 Chinese families ?

- Yes and I don t think a lot of people in Saint John know that. But I remember 10 years ago there weren t a lot people here. And people never  knew Chinese  meal and understood their culture. Now  it s good for people to have international friends.

(from left: Xiaoping Nhut Quang Jia)

- I will tell my friends in my country about Saint John when I come back home.

- I am absolutely delighted to hear that. When a student actually goes back and speaks from his heart the true story that will make people understand us more and your experence is very good one.
